Completely unprepared and unsuited for any kind of fighting, future comic Miguel Gila finds himself in a regiment during the civil war that is also very green. He just wants to be with his friend Pedro and survives the absurdity of the conflict with his wit , by luck and maintains his humanity.

Drama-Comedy

The film begins in 1936 where teenager Miguel Gila lives a simple life with his grandparents in a working-class neighbourhood in Madrid. Despite the family’s difficulties, their home is happy. Miguel enjoys accompanying his grandmother to the cinema, helping his grandfather with his woodwork and having adventures with his best friend Pedro.


 The outbreak of the Civil War changes Miguel’s destiny. Not the fighting type, but spurred on by Pedro, he joins the war, promising his grandmother that he will return safe and sound and not leave his friend’s side. They are seperated almost immediately leaving him with a regiment of recruits also untrained and ill equpped for conflict. He tries to re-connect with Pedro throughout, highlighting his deep loyalty.
