 Set in rural Brittany in the 1870's in a town where the Mill owner is king, Rosalie, portrayed by the exceptional Nadia Tereszkiewicz, is a sold off in marriage to Abel a dissolute and indebted tavern owner Abel (Benoit Magimel) who is scarred from the war and in need of the dowry paid to him.


Rosalie begs her father not leave her as Abel is unaware that Rosalie has a secret. She suffers from hirsutism, which she has hidden by a variety of methods over the years but is hard to hide in the bedroom. Abel is appalled when he discovers her secret and rejects her.


Howver, with his tavern still in trouble, Rosalie makes herself indispensible as she is much better…
